English Language ============== Orientation Program The main aim of the orientation program is to help the teacher trainees newly admitted to the College, adjust themselves to the new and collective life at the college. This is usually a ten day program and begins in the afternoon of the day of their admission to the college. The main aims of this program could be listed as follows. English Total immersion program The teacher trainees who enter the National College of Education to follow the English course are selected on the basis of the marks scored in the proficiency and A/L subject stream they have followed. But as they come from various parts of the country with different social and educational backgrounds their proficiency in English language skills are at different levels. At the same time even though the teacher trainees have studied English since their primary grades and earned very good passes for English at G.C.E.(O/L)examination, most of them are in dire need to improve their language competency. Western Music ============ Mahaweli NCOE is the only NCOE which produce the western music teachers for the school system. All the necessary facilities are available for success this course. 2NL Sinhala and Tamil ================== This course produce the Second National Language teachers for the school system. Mahaweli National College of Education was established in 1985 as a teacher training centre. MNOCE, located at Kandy, Polgolla is one of the most beautiful places in Sri Lanka.The primary purpose of establishing this institute was to produce well trained teachers to the school system of Sri Lanka.
