Life Skills Development The National Youth Corps Life Skills Development Course is designed to groom the Sri Lankan youth with discipline, leadership and personality as well as empower with knowledge and skills. Career Guidance Personality Development Information Technology English Language Tamil Language Aesthetic Studies and Appreciation Use of Basic Hand Tools Squad Drills and Physical Training Adventure Based Training Hotel School La Hotelier, the Hotel School in Dambulla, came into being in the year 2014 NVQ Level Courses offered at La Hotelier International Cookery - NVQ level IV Food & Beverage - NVQ level IV Pastry & Bakery - NVQ level IV Hotel House Keeping - NVQ level III Front Office - NVQ level III Adventure Based Training (ABT) The Adventure Based Training (ABT) Centre is in the Matale District located in close proximity to the Naula Arangala, A9 Road. This center conducts training for the trainees and the staff of Youth Corps, and for external parties from both public and private institutions Activities provided in outdoor training Blind Polygon Lawa Activity Confidence Bridge Gill Net Dangle Doo Cross Rope Spider Net Self-motivation Web Double Balancing Rope Tarzan Rope Scramble Jumping Rope Swing Ladder & Bridge Trust Fall Arial Rope Shuttle Run Net Climbing & TT’S Rope Chinese Language Training Chinese Language teaching was initially introduced in 2016 to the La Hotelier, the hotel school in Dambulla Introduction of China and the Chinese language Introduction of phonetic, place of phonetic and pronunciation of same Listening to basic sounds and recognizing sounds separately and training to pronounce them correctly Major Communication Methods (Greetings, Thanks giving, Apologies and Farewells) Introduction to Chinese characters and teaching about the structures of Chinese characters Teaching of calculations from Nos. 1-10 Practice of reading and writing 150 Nos. of commonly used letters Providing knowledge on simple topics such as personal life, family and hobbies Providing knowledge of common sentence patterns, common questions and sentences that mean ‘no’ Knowledge of nouns and numerals Providing basic knowledge of numbers (10-1000), time, dates and money required in daily life Teaching of how to apply name, race etc. to the forms Providing an understanding of Chinese culture Preparing for the first level of HSK exam Certificate course in Chinese language / Japanese language Course Type: Chinese: HSK Level 1-2 Japanese: JLPT/NAT 4-5 The Youth Corps established under the Parliament Act No. 21 of 2002 commenced its operation through Youth Corps Regulation No. 01-2003 of the Gazette Notification No.1309/17, 10th October 2003.
